MDR 1 Radio Sachsen on 93.9 FM is directed at an
older audience (traditional German music). It is Saxony`s version of the
mDR 1 Network
MDR Kultur on 88.4 FM is directed at the higher educated
listener which enjoys features and classical music.
The youth has two choices: MDR's JUMP on 90.4 FM
(directed at lower educated teens) and MDR Sputnik on 104.4 FM, for smarter
young people who want to be informed with their music.
Another service is MDR Info on 783 AM, an all-news
station.
Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio are the nationwide
seervices that are beamed to the local FM and cable audiences. The programs
are high class, information oriented with culture-contents and mainly classical
music.

The most popular commercial station is Radio
PSR on 102.9 FM. It plays "superhits" of the 80s, 90s and current
releases from the field of adult contemporary pop.
PSR`s company also offers oldie.fm,
the station playing mainly 60s and 70s music.
A mixture of both musical styles with a tendency
to current pop hits is on 91.3 Radio Leipzig.
A format "in between" 91.3 and PSR applies to Antenne
Sachsen on 106.9, directed at the 30 - 50 somethings.
Energy 99.8
is Leipzig's version of the french based NRJ
Network. The very youth oriented current hit station has everything
from Hot AC to R&B Black Music in its playlist, making it the most
diverse among the commercial stations.
